low mic signal.. Please help

Hi all,

i am ruuning PT SE
with m audio fast track pro
and a samson mic.

when i use othe programs i have a good mic signal.
when i try to use pro tools..
i get a very low signal.

when i play back i do not hear anything even with speaker all the way up
