Default Re: Digi 002 - optical input not working / only DI channel 1 working

Thanks to you guys we now have all channels from the Mackie Onyx 800R working via the optical link to the Digi Rack & into the Pro Tools software. Much appreciated.

This has thrown up another issue that I was hoping you might be able to help with.

With nothing plugged into the Mackie, when a channel is selected for recording, a regular strong signal pulse appears on the selected channel. This pulses at 4 seconds, & is on all the record selected channels. When the Mackie is switched off, or the optical link is disconnected, the pulse stops. Clearly the source of the signal is from the Mackie, but I can't find anything in the manual that provides a clue as to what it is, or how to stop it.

With a mic (or guitar) connected to any channel on the mackie, the pulse is still present on the channel when it is selected, but the frequency reduces to 12 seconds.

Any ideas?

Thanks again for your help so far.

In Pro Tools, go to Setup>Hardware and set Clock Source to Optical. BTW, you will need to do this every time you boot the computer as the setting is not saved(a known bug yet to be fixed). Whenever you connect devices via digital connections, there MUST be a single master clock source, or you will get clicks and pops(which is what you are getting now). Setting as I described will tell Pro Tools that the Mackie(incoming optical signal) is the master clock.

***IMPORTANT DETAIL*** make sure the Mackie sample rate is set to match the session sample rate.
