Default Protools 7.4 Do we still have a 256 Midi Track Limit???

I was thinking of switching to Protools for my main Sequencer but we usually have large 300+ track MIDI templates for scoring. Currently using Cubase for this, but the software is so damn buggy. Will 7.4 support more than 256 MIDI tracks? Why is there a limit anyway? Every other sequencing application does 999. Thoughts?
