Default Free Book about Using Pro Tools in a Zoom Meeting

I just release a new 75-pages book about using the Zoom Meeting with DAWs and audio collaboration in general. It is available as a free pdf download on my website
http://MusicTechExplained.com

It seems that virtually everybody at schools and businesses moved to online meetings using the Zoom application due to COVID-19. Although there are a ton of YouTube videos out there, they pretty much all cover only the basics. Not much information about the details, the concepts, and how to use it when you have a Pro Tools Session and want to collaborate in an online class or with your music project participants.

I did a lot testing the last three weeks to figure out how I can use it in my own music production classes at the university to incorporate Pro Tools and Logic with stereo sound, screen sharing, and remote mouse/keyboard controls.

I put all that detailed information together in this new book and made it now available as a free pdf download, my little contribution to the community during this challenging COVID-19 times. With lots of graphics and signal flow diagrams combined with step-by-step instructions, I hope it can help others who rely on Zoom Meetings as the new reality to continue with their work as much as possible

Enjoy, and stay healthy

Many thanks for that. It is really a big theme actually...
I have some good results with https://now.source-elements.com
With Skype/zoom or jitsi (btw, is jitsi one of the best of all, ..open source)
the sound is always like a phonecall, or is there something I missed to get better quality out of zoom ?

All the best

Yes, there is a lot to miss and that's why I wrote the book. I read already some responses where people trashing Zoom because of the bad mono audio quality.

First of all, Zoom is mono by default and you have to enable stereo. That is where the confusing interface comes in. Not only do you have to enable the stereo setting in the Web portal so a checkbox appears in the App preferences that you then have to enable. Now you have to make sure to be logged in to that Zoom account in the Zoom app for stereo to be active in addition to being enabled already.

The other complain is about the poor audio quality. Again, as a default, Zoom applies VoIP audio processing algorithms that doesn't work for music. Low end is cut and phasing gurguling artifacts (remember listening to music on hold nowadays with this sound quality?).

That is just some of the stuff I pulled my hair out trying to figure out, and there is even more complex inconsistent stuff going on. Good luck finding any mention of those little details on the 2 million YouTube videos about Zoom.

Thanks for creating this, Edgar. Very generous of you to share it for free.

I'm still struggling to get PT sound to go to my meetings. I'm using a session at 48khz, and I've selected the ZoomAudioDevice playback engine. If I start a test meeting, share my screen, enable sharing computer sound, when I listen back to the recording of the meeting there's no sound there. My mic is there, and the screen is shared successfully, but the PT audio doesn't show up.

I'm also not able to get PT audio into Zoom using Soundflower or Blackhole (or Loopback for that matter). If anyone reading this has any insight, I'd be hugely grateful to hear it.

Thanks all

Although the pdf file is free, some customers preferred to buy it as a printed book on Amazon, making it the #1 for new releases in the Digital Audio Production category.
Thanks

I added two more pages to my Zoom book with additional routing options for Pro Tools and Logic Pro X.
The updated book has a release date in the lower-right corner of the cover. If you downloaded the book previously check if it says 2020-0412. If not, just go to my website and download it again

Here are the screenshots of the two new pages 31 and 32.
