Default OS X 10.8.2 Major Problems

Just wanted to post warning everyone about the problems I encountered with Pro Tools 10.3(.1) and OS X 10.8.2.

This may be unique to my configuration, I'm not sure that it's technically supported. Here's what I'm running:

MBPR 2.6, 16 GBs RAM, 256 SSD
HD Native
OWC Helios Thunderbolt chassis

Everything was rock solid for me on ML 10.8 and 10.8.1, but when I updated to 10.8.2, I couldn't even record 14 tracks at 128 buffer without getting CPU overload errors. This happened when running the Native playback engine or the PT aggregate I/O.

I tried everything, complete uninstallation of PT 10, updating to 10.3.1, trashing all prefs, etc, and the only thing that fixed my issue was reverting to OS X 10.8. Luckily, it's easy to do this without having to wipe the system drive.

Anyway, just wanted to give everyone a heads up to potentially save someone time and headaches!

Not quite had your problems, but having weird stuff happening here too. Kind of annoying that the 10.3 update said it "supported" 10.8.x, when it clearly doesn't.

Where do people get their info from for updates? I almost always end up stumbling across them by accident. All those "stickies" at the top of this forum are just a mess.

Hey Denis!

No need to apologize, the only real point to this thread is to possibly help people hash out problems. All you do is restart and hold Command+R, and a dialogue will come up allowing you to reinstall OS X while keeping all your files and settings intact (among some other options). I don't know if this was implemented in Lion, but it saved me some major time in ML.

Wish I'd back-tracked an OS update now - I tried to do some recording today, simple sessions, got 9029 and 9072 and all sorts of errors. Grim.
