Default Drive file system and fiber connected drives

I've been scouring the Avid/PT site for information on external drive and fiber connected drives for information. Any tips/help would be appreciated.

Here's the deal:
I'm running Pro Tools 11.2.1 on a beefy Mac Pro doing audio post for video.
I record to the local drive.
I am connected via fiber to a large server where I place files for my video editors. On this same server we have placed our SFX library and our production music library so the video editors can audition and choose music/sfx.
That server was once an Apple XSAN, now it is a Promise raid...
I can no longer drag files from the server into projects or use the Workspace to audition SFX or music files (NOTE: I can search, but need to use the "locate with Finder" to get the files and move them to my machine. I could before -- and I am not sure if it is a drive issue or a PT version issue.

Why is this? Is it the file system on the server? The Mac sees the server as a local drive. ...and if so, what are the specs for the file systems for Pro Tools - cant find that anywhere. Our video editors use the server effectively with their Adobe products, its like having a 120TB local drive ...

Any answers, tips, links are welcome...
thanks all,
DV

Fiberchannel SAN. No real fiber anything involved...

So you can drag and drop files there from the finder from the same account as you run Pro Tools from? So it is probably not an OS X permissions or mount settings issue. In Windows>Workspace is that volume marked transfer, playback or record?

Do you have somebody who set up this SAN for you to get help from?

Thanks for the reply...not at that Mac right now, but here is more detail.
The Mac/finder can read/write from that drive just fine.
Our video editing software loves it, moving, and playing back GB of data effortlessly and quickly.

PT will export/write files to it just fine.
Workspace will search it, but not show waveforms, will not audition, will not allow drag and place into PT. this is the problem.
I will double check the settings preferences for Workspace. That may be it.

Yes I have an IT tech to help...he has noted that the server space is not Mac OS Extended, but uses Cluster File System. This may be the culprit.

I will get back soon with findings... thanks.

A proper SFX/Music search engine like NetMix or SoundMiner would problem help
That's how we use to do it when I was working at a place with a similar setup

What did you change recently before this stopped working for you how how you wanted (move from Pro Tools 10 to 11?). Pro Tools 11 and 12 relies on Spotlight to find content. Which means something has to index that volume. Is your Mac set to index it or is the volume marked private?

I'm not sure relying on Spotlight was a very good idea.

What exact Promise Box do you have on the back-end? CFS should work fine with OS X, but your IT guy should check explicit versions/compatibility.
