Unhappy 9129 - Audio Processing is conflicting with other CPU tasks - Error help needed!

Hello, thanks for taking the time. My question is a two-parter.

Several years ago I purchased an MBox2 with ProTools LE 6.8.1. I have not used it too much in the past year or more but I have a new project to work on so am trying to troubleshoot some problems. Everything more or less runs fine except that I keep getting the now infamous "Audio Processing is conflicting with other CPU tasks... Try reducing HW Buffer size". After reducing buffer size, I get a similar error telling me to increase my buffer size, and the cycle repeats. After doing a search of the site I have read that I should start my own thread with my specific system details, as each system is different. So thats why I am here now, any help is greatly appreciated!

Not sure if that's too much or too little information.
Any help would be really really appreciated, this has been driving me up the walls lately. I was about to upgrade my RAM before reading that it may not solve the problem. Thanks again for any advice!

Default Re: 9129 - Audio Processing is conflicting with other CPU tasks - Error help needed!

I got this error on my I7 when I had installed software from the cd provided by the motherboard manufacturer. So I'm guessing you have some other program running, possibly in the background, that's interfering with PT. Start with running msconfig and disabling all non-essential programs running at startup - disable ALL of them if you can, except for the Digi programs of course, and see if your problem goes away. If so, you can try enabling them one at a time until you figure out which one is causing the conflict. Also, make sure you try all the optimizations in the troubleshooting thread.

Default Re: 9129 - Audio Processing is conflicting with other CPU tasks - Error help needed!

The error is definately being caused by background services you are running. I had the same problem when i installed a wireless network card. Once I disabled the wireless network the problem disappeared. I tried to just disconnect but the problem remained. I had to disable the network and the re enable it ebery time I want to use the net.

Good luck
