Cannot launch protools

Hi there,

I've recently purchased Digi 002 Rack system and Pro Tools software
version 7.0 ( discs came with the unit ).

I've installed the software following the instructions in the manual.
After restarting the computer and connecting the Digi 002,
I've launched the Pro Tools software to authorize it, but got the
dialog box saying: "Hardware may not be installed or is used by
another programme"

After restarting a few times,uninstalling the software and installing
it again, nothing changed.

As I use an Apple laptop and have only one Firewire port, I've also
tried to connect Digi 002 directly to the laptop with no hard drive
in between and that didn't help either.

I've done system profiling and the computer does see the unit on it's
Firewire port.

I did notice though that the green light above the 1394 sign on the
front panel of the unit is NOT illuminated !?


I use:

Apple MacBook Intel Core 2 Duo
2 Gig of RAM
OS X 10.5.8

Have you tried a different firewire lead?

Otherwise it may be a power supply harness issue

The first version of Pro Tools LE that was compatible with your Mac OS (Leopard) was version 7.4.2. Click on Compatibility & Upgrade Information at the top of the forum, then on this link:

It sounds like you purchased a used 002 rather than a boxed unit from an authorized dealer, so you would need to purchase an upgrade to the current Pro Tools LE 8 software. You should perhaps check with the original owner and see if they ever upgraded beyond Pro Tools LE 7.0.
