Re: Stereo Mini Grand clip problem.
Another thing to look at Terry is;
In Pro Tools, Open Midi Editor and look at the 'velocity' levels of area where it sounds louder. Are they set at consistency level as rest of piece?, if not drag the levels to match those around general area. Midi Velocity dictates how hard or soft a note gets played so it has a direct correlation to volume. It serves the purpose of humanizing a performance since in real life no note gets played exactly the same in a live performance. If you played the performance yourself on the piano track in question, you may have hit some notes harder than the rest.

Re: Stereo Mini Grand clip problem.
Thanks Zedhed but my knowledge of midi is minimal. I attempted your instructions but to no avail! Yesterday I deleted the midi piano track and recorded a new audio piano track using my Yamaha keyboard direct in and the same problem persists and in the same measure! I can't come to any conclusion other than this problem is a bug in PT's 12.8 and judging by other posts there seem to be many! I'm tired of whipping this horse so I'll abandon this song. Thanks to all for your kind help and advice.

Double click on your Midi track to access the Midi Editor and take a look at this video; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7MYnbyqJ1iA Yes indeed.....You may have some volume automation on during this measure. Create a new session and import the Midi track into it and see if it's still the same.

Re: Stereo Mini Grand clip problem.
Ok you guys. You've talked me in to going a bit further. First off, thanks Zed for the very informative,(and understandable) video! John, yes I re recorded the track with just audio, not midi, just playing my keyboard straight in to my I/o. same problem, same spot as with midi! Now. Since it appears to me that it is impossible to delete songs from the dash board in Pt's 12, I'll see if I can recover the original song and inspect the midi velocity settings. Good luck to me on that!
