Paste automation command error

This may very well be a user error, but it`s confused me for long enough to ask here:
When I copy automation to paste to another region, the automation pastes as expected, but is often late. I can`t figure out why pasted automation info pastes later on the timeline than what I selected! I am making sure that the length of the region selection and position of the region within that selection are identical across copied and pasted sections.

I have never seen that issue. Are you on PT LE 8.0.4, as per your public profile?

I need to update that. I'm on 10.3.7 and 11. I haven't tried in 11 yet, but the issue exists in 10. I've always though it was just a user error. Perhaps not?

Are you pasting automation to a selection, or just from where the cursor is parked (no selection)? You said you pasted to a region, but I'm just trying to get a step-by-step procedure assembled, and possibly reproduce the issue.
