Default Re: 2020 Better CPU Handling?

I've noticed a substantial drop in performance after moving up to 2020.3, but it's important to note that I also moved up my OS as well. Overall an 11% increase in CPU usage on the system (for the exact same session). Pro Tools specifically jumped from 354% CPU usage to 440%. I'm working with video and the net result is that Pro Tools is now dropping frames, which makes it unusable.

I made a detailed post in the Post forum - check it out here if you like:

I think the CPU meter is different now. In 2019 I had f.ex. 42% but 2 cores 11-12 where at 80% and I had peaks and errors sometimes.

Now the overall shows 50% but the cores are more even and the system is stable. Just my setup of course....and maybe it's just voodoo thinking
But generally happy.

Just done another mix with some folder tracks aww yis :) And the CPU behaved. There is still slight loading on CPU 4 as always, but overall 15%, core 4 10%. Again not a massive session, just a rock track with sampled drums (so much less on drums than normal) so behaving as expected. Seemed a little bit more snappy, for instance enabling Ozone 8 on master and there was no massive pause or anything. Routing all the vocal tracks to a routing folder as the track played back (with ozone on master fader) worked as well. Everything at 128 buffer still. Can't complain at the moment!
