But yes that is going to be a can of worms - and I wouldn’t imagine Apple would do anything to help make Avid’s experience easier
Shouldn't happen before 2020 I think is rumored.

Apple have been talking about this new machine for a few years now so I would hope when they say it will be a 2019 release that's what they mean.
I suppose if they don't have the Apple chip ready it will have whatever the latest generation of Intel chips are at the time?

I can't see Apple will make a chip of their own that isn't compatible with a wide range of applications, that would be crazy.... wouldn't it???

I don't see how a stage using Macs affects importing sound editor PT sessions from whatever computer, Mac Win or Hackintosh.
Each to their own, the way I work I take my drives on the stage and just bolt them into their Macs, super fast to get up and running. All I'm saying is no stages that I know run from PC, they all have multiple mac rigs.

I'm still working on why Apple even cares about making a badass no-screen workstation style computer anymore. Like I said, I hope they do. Not holding my breath. The last time they took a REALLY long time to upgrade something that was important to a lot of people's work and businesses we got Final Cut 10 replacing Final Cut 7. That episode does not fill me with confidence that Apple cares much about the sort of work I do re: a new tower computer.

Default PT on a MAC for 25 years, thinking of Jumping to PC

Just get a PC and put MACOS on it. These days, it couldn’t be easier. I needed a second PT system and did that to an HP. It took less than two hours.

All your current hardware and plugins will be ready to go.

Agreed. I don’t see many other options until Apple makes something new (and that might never happen).

The 2012 cheese grater is still a viable option, but doesn’t even come close to the power of some of the new PC’s.
