Default So how long can a PT12 session time line be?

Is there a limit to the length of the timeline in a PT12 session?

I have four performances of a 3 hour long show that I am recording on our HDX rig. Wondering if I can fit them all into the same session or if there is limit to how long it can be.

HD TDM systems had a maximum session length of about 12 hours at 44.1khz. I have no idea about the limit for newer HDX systems. Might be worth running some tests, as you may also have the file size limits of WAV and AIFF to contend with it is a continuous 3 hour take.

I'm running 24/48k. And I've already done one performance that was about 3 hours and 7 minutes long, since i started just before we started and stopped after the applause died down.

Seems like when Protools went to 64-bit that the old file system limit went up to 4GB? At any rate a 180 minute long mono track at 24/48k is only 1.45GB so I think I will be fine on the individual track lengths.

Just wondering how long the time line the actual session can be.

I guess under Session Setup, you can specify the timeline length up to 24 hours. But I wasn't sure if that was for all sessions, or just when using time code?

We'll see I guess.

This is a stress test and essentially a throw away session for me, so if it doesn't work then no big deal.
