I havent even been using PT9 a full year yet, but what would you rather have, a company that doesnt update until everyone feels "ready" or a company that puts out products with advanced features in a timely manner. You dont have to upgrade, but at least you have the option. I know many people still using PT8 and PT7.

Not 64bit, No freeze tracks. No enhancement for VI's.

The real time fade will be converted to the old system when you go from pt 10 to pt 9 as you save for pt 7 file system When you go from 9 to 10 they will convert the fade file automatically so you will be able to trash the fade folder once it's done. |

Re: PT10 is Here
Simply put, using RAM to work like a hard disk drive. Since RAM is many times faster than a physical drive, reading from the Disk Cache is much faster and will provide the playback engine with better audio streaming performance than the actual physical hard drive can accomplish.

Also you have to remember something. Avid is a hardware manufacturer. Placing a new product that gives 5 times the processing power on one single card, with the tones of plugs that you've seen is quite something. Combining that with the host processing power is even better. So while you'd want a 64 bit system. IMHO,PT 10 hdx bring in more power than even one 64 bit system could handle. We're talking of over 100 tracks with 6 to 10 plugins on each and single one of those tracks. |

Re: PT10 is Here
Curious on how the AAX format will handle VI's. With an HDX card, and a hypothetical Kontakt instance in AAX format, how taxing on the CPU is the kontakt instance going to be with an HDX card vs. PT10? I'm aware that RAM usage is still an issue, but I'm curious how much host cpu would be used with something like Kontakt Memory server(to take care of loading the samples), if the kontakt instance were loaded in the DSP on the HDX card.
I guess the real question is, when does Kontakt become available in AAX format?
