FWIW I have HDX working in the new Mac Pro.

Edit, let me resize those pics.

Edit 2:

So despite it not being supported right now it does seem to be working, including HDX, which is just super.

HDX fan seem quieter in this machine than they were in the expansion chassis, not sure if something is happening with the fan rate or if it the thickness and acoustical noise properties of the tower casing.

I'm pretty pleased right now.

Anyone else doing this you will absolutely need the Belkin auxiliary power cable kit from the Apple store or some other converter to take the Avid power cable down to the small pin size for the Mac Pro logic board.

I have been running HD11 perp up until now. It’s nice to have an updated O.S. 2019.12 seems significantly snappier and more stable than HD11. Glad I waited and was able to take advantage of the $599 deal. Even tacked in the $40 discount which made it a little over $600 to upgrade my old perpetual. Kinda bummed Heat isn’t included but oh well.

Thanks for the info. What are your specs? I'm looking to do the same with HDX.

3.2ghz 16 core with 160GB RAM and 4TB SSD.
Base video.

I've got a couple of extra internal drives on PCIE sleds- one 1TB NVME (audio) and one 2TB SSD (samples).

HDX card + Focusrite Red 16 Line, 2x A16R interfaces/converters for 48 channels of IO plus a lot of outboard.

It's running great on 10.12.6 here. I was going to upgrade my OS, but I think I'll just stay here for a bit longer since I'm planning to upgrade to the 16" MBP soon.

Through Octatonic's gracious testing for us over at GS, it has pretty much been confirmed now that the mac pro 16 has a clocking issue.. You may want to check that out and make sure you are OK with it :)
Basically, heavily loaded workflows effectively remove all turbo boost and in certain situations can drop below base clock. it's not thermals as thermals are outstanding when it happens (in the 40's!) so I believe it to be a power delivery issue. Hopefully it can be fixed with a simple EFI update, if it's not by design.

They always only test/support on the latest three OS's. Since 2019.12 is the first (intended) release since Catalina has been out, it of course takes its place and bumps out Sierra.

Doesn't mean 2019.12 is not compatible with Sierra or earlier. Just that Avid will no longer be testing or tech-supporting on anything before High Siera (until the next OS... Avalon Catalina, I guess).

Hi,
I've been trying video playback with Pro Tools 2019.12 + 10.15.2 using MXF wrapped codecs, amongst others DNxHD.
Video playback works, but the video track in the edit window does not display the thumbnail frames.
Was wondering if anybody has got this to work, or if this is not ready yet in the initial release.
