Default 12.8 "clip groups with embedded fades not supported for fade command"

"could not complete your request because clip groups with embedded fades are not supported for the fade command during record"

Anytime I'm in record, now, since updating to PT12.8 (vanilla), I'm finding there are a LOT of things I can't do (while recording).

You can't edit a clip group while recording.
You can't add a fade to a clip group while recording.

When did this start?

Anyone else seeing this?

Currently experiencing this weirdness on a 24 core cheese grater / OS 12.5 / PT 12.8 (v) - Apollo 16 / UAD 9.2 (everything current)

Before 12.8, I could edit clip groups, no worries, while recording passes. I do a lot of random editing while laying back long-form mixes.

I already added my system info -

This is happening in Mac OS 12.5 / PT 12.8 (v) - Apollo 16

After I updated from 12.7, sorry.

Now, running 12.8 on a vanilla mix rig via Apollo 16, I'm seeing this issue. It has appeared with 12.8 (v).

This system is pretty rock solid - no funky plugs, everything has been curated from proper installs and preferences flushed. It appears to be a new "feature"

Also -

I'm using PT11(v) on a mobile rig - no issues.

PT10 HD on multiple CPU's - no issues.

Hmmmm it's not just clip groups - it's ANY CLIP in the timeline that's on the same track as a clip group - and the 'error' message only appears when trying to edit that track....

This is a weird one!

ok, i see this ..

1) if there are NO Fades in 12.8.0.864 you can Edit clip groups ..but if add fades you get the error ..

2) in 12.7.1.733 .. works fine .. i can add Fades and edit them

i will write this up on my end .. you might want to create a support case as well ..

cheers john

Aha ! It's not just me.

At least there's that. Saved me a complete re-install, and I've only just been using 12.8 in the last week, haha!

I'll create a support ticket.

Thankyou, John!
