Default no \"renamed audio files\" folder is being created

I am opening a 6.9 session that has slashes (/) in some of the audio file names. Pro Tools gives me a list of files that "have been copied, renamed and placed in the 'renamed audio files' folder." Sounds good, but there is no such folder. I believe I have seen this work correctly in the past, however, having trashed the digidatabases on the drives, and restarted a few times, these files are not being copied anywhere.

Thanks for your thoughts,

10.4.6
7.1 cs7 (the latest one)

Tomcat,

Don't know if you solved your problem. I'm still at 6.2.3, so I don't know what's going on but...

Is it possible to rename the bad files manually and then relink by ID number in the project browser?
or,
If its a PC compatability problem import the tracks into a new session without MAC>PC Comp. checked.

Sorry if those don't help. DIGI doesn't seem to be chiming in here...

thanks craig. yes, still having the issue.
Digi, please do chime in. I know the folder is supposed to be created, but it is not happening. These files are in the normal audio files folder, with the names containing illegal characters, and they won't be recognized by the session, so I can't print the stems that the client is waiting for. PLEASE advise. This is clearly a pro tools malfunction, no?!?!?

Tom,

If any of the containing folders use "illegal" characters that is also disallowed and maybe that's why PT won't create the "renamed audio files" folder ie if the session folder name has illegal characters or any folder it's inside.

Good luck,

JG

Default Re: no \"renamed audio files\" folder is being creat

I have tried new sessions, track imports, trashing digi databases, fixing drive directories. can't make it work. This is getting frustrating, not to mention really bad for client relations.

The files are sitting there in the folder. Protools won't use them because they have illegal characters. The session claims that they have been renamed and copied to the "renamed audio files" folder. but it makes no folder. When I spotlight search for this folder, i find plenty of them from other sessions that have migrated to 7.

Please help.

Tom -

I'll test this shortly. If you are in desperate need for help, it's usually best to contact support by phone. While we try to monitor these boards as closely as possible, sometimes other time constraints prevent us from reading or replying to every post.
