Default Is the major MIDI update still coming in 2017?

No one knows of course...

We got some new MIDI features with the last update, but there's a lot more that needs to be implemented. Avid has announced major MIDI updates to be released within 2017.

Their "major" midi updates were a joke. Not to mention those of us that can't even use 12.8.2 because of gui lag. I'd like to hope there's something else coming before the end of year but they just put out this video pointing out all their game changing enhancements to Pro Tools in 2017.

Default New Midi Features in 2017

I saw a promo for ProTools and it said it had great new midi features in 2017. What were the new midi stuff this year in ProTools?

I was actually serious and not giving grief to Avid... What are the new fantastic MIDI features in PT in 2017?

I'm sad to break the news that the most cost effective way to get a comprehensive MIDI update for Pro Tools is just to buy Logic Pro X for $199. That will get you lots of new features, nearly unlimited virtual instruments, and lots of shiny new toys to play with. All for about 1/2 the cost of the one year HD Subscription.

And let's be clear here. I'm a Pro Tools guy. Have been for 20 years. I have tens of thousands of dollars invested in my rig between my Mix +++, HD 3 Accel, and HD Native. What you get with Logic for two hundred bucks is nothing short of astounding! The learning curve is steep when you know as much as I do about Pro Tools and how to get things done quickly. I'm in the middle of two Logic projects now and Avid may have lost me. Sad but true.

Steve

What Steve says is painfully true. You can run a zillion plugins in Logic as well before it gets the hiccups. Many Avid fans I talk to are going in the Logic direction. Unless Avid really turn this boat around and deliver a stable snappy software hopefully with a more happening MIDI editor, I may jump ship as well. And I have a big investment in Avid stuff... Like I wrote elsewhere yesterday: I used to be very proud that I ran Pro Tools, but now I feel stupid.
