Audio track monitoring of aux is completely broken for me [solved]

Hi..
Having major issues with that here.. it only became important for rewire on aux, when i wanted to record to audio in realtime, or monitoring virtual loopback instruments.. It just doesn't work.

To do the simplest of tests...

Create an AUX track....
put a Vi on it.

Create a midi track. Record some midi.

Set the output to aux 1 or a bus or whatever.

Now, create an audio track.

Set input to the output of the VI aux track.

Hit record. Press play.

You don't hear anything, but when you *stop* playback, you hear a couple notes. That's it.

No matter what VI. No matter what rewire.

BUT - if you actually record the track, i/e hit command space and let it play through, suddenly it monitors perfect and *correctly records the audio* !!

Surely this is a bug?

Anyone else can confirm please?

I don't have the iLok in my studio right now, as it's at my brother's studio. But will try out as soon as I can.

I remember something about doing it the same way you did but worked ok.

If I'm correct you need to turn input monitoring on when you want to monitor the input of an audio track while not in recording regardless of the source. This how you hear what's being recorded or hear what's recorded on the audio track itself.

This is also part of the way I set up my analog summing / ITB mix in PT. I print the output of the mix bus to a audio track (print track). I have to monitor as I mix so I turn input monitoring on (it's on by default in my template). Once I print my mix I can turn input monitoring off to preview the recorded mix as well as you can make new playlist for different revisions of the mix.

Select your track(s) and option+k to toggle input monitoring on and off in Vanilla Pro Tools.
