PT 12 Creates a hug temp file

Using pro tools 11 I didn't have to worry about temp files. I bought PT 12 and now I get between 5000 to 7000 temp files. WHY?

Is that how many files, or the size of the files? Where are they being created?

There is between 5000 to 7000 temp files, not the sizes of the files.

That is unlikely Pro Tool's problem... don't run crapware like McAfee.

*Nothing* but common sense. Most actual malware/infection issues are caused by idiot users.

If you have to, use Microsoft defender or anything else besides McCafee. But nearly all this stuff is worse than much of the Malware out there. Turn it all off manually (as you are supposed to anyhow for Pro Tools). And only run it by hand if you need to check. And maintain a long-tail of archived backups/images copies offline that you can roll back to. None of this stuff provides particularity solid protection. A really solid backup plan is your best real protection against lots of issues.

If you have to handle lots of public files/media of questionable provenance then set up a sterile PC or virtual machine where you can examine this before moving to a production system.
