Singers and volume control
Heres the thing...
I record alot of singers and i always have trouble with controling their volume... when they go to hit a higher note it sounds kind of muffled and starts sounding like the person is yelling... Im not sure if i should try adjusting my preamp or protools.... My chain goes - AT4040 mic -> Summit audio B221 pre amp -> Protools Mbox2 pro.... and the plugins I have are Waves Musicians 2 any suggestions |

Re: Singers and volume control
Going from the XLR output of the Summit audio to the XLR input on the Mbox 2 pro

Re: Singers and volume control
you should be going from the summit audio XLR>Balanced input 3 or 4.
you are going through the good (summit) pre and the digi also (booo). GET A MOGAMI XLR > BALANCED 1/4 and you will be much happier |

Re: Singers and volume control
try this
set up an mono aux track pick your mic input and on that aux track put your compressor now bus that aux (pick a mono bus out then on the audio track make that bus the input)track to a audio track this way you can use your internal compressor to control your input signal this will work best with a very low buffer like 128 or 64 that should help i hope. |

Re: Singers and volume control
Paulreed is correct. What you are doing is preamping twice here. The Summit should be plugged into a LINE input.
