I didn't realize that. I thought the Celeron chip itself was the culprit. Thanks for clarifying that.

Just playing back those tracks is only a big deal for the HD, not the CPU. But i bet that i cannot use a lot of verbs then....;-)

Then again...thats something i noticed with ptle. playback is never that much of a problem. The problems start when you want to load up plugins....

That makes sense. Still, quite impressive for a 5400rpm drive I think. I wondered about the plug load with those 32 tracks. Adding plugs is where my CPU takes a hit.

Don't know about the specific hardware you are talking about, but make sure the FW case has an Oxford 911 chipset for compatibility. I couldn't get to that link for some reason. It says that the server is down or something right now......

make sure the link is preceeded and followed by a space. The brackets were the culprit here

(www.digidesign.com) doesnt works
( www.digidesign.com ) does

http://www.dse.co.nz/cgi-bin/dse.sto...ct/View/XH7094

AFAIK any 7200 rpm EIDE HD will work. Just make sure its 7200 rpm or higher, and a large buffer is nice (strive for 8mb or more). Then get the largest one you can pay...

Yeah, that was a stupid mistake on my part. I didn't pay attention to the brackets. Thanks Bastiaan.

Thanks heaps to both of you guys! Magic!

I have decided to put the PC to bed and buy an EMac as it seems it will do the job without all the faffing about. Much easier to chack the specs and less likely to be 'unsupported'!
