Default performance

ok so I am picking up an AMD chip xp2500+ + Barton with an asus mother board A7V600
with 512 megs of ddr ram ATI Radeon 9200 64Mb DDR 8x Dual Video.
My queston is, what performance should I get out of this puppy with win98 se ?
How many track should I be able to record and with how many plugins
on my digi 001?
I wast just wondering on what I should be looking for in performance
any input on this would be great.

I would suggest you seriously consider moving up to Windows XP, at least with 5.3 if not 6.1.1. XP is much more stable than 98 and Commands Focus and the mouse scroll wheel ability make 6.1.1 worth any trouble that may occur and well worth any workarounds. YMMV

Check the Performance thread to see what others are getting with setups like yours.

Seems to be more of us Ontario types every day.

Merry Christmas,

Optimum Davec Performance results for that system is 32+16 at normal speeds. I've seen a couple 32+6-10 reported lately. Not sure what they are doing differently.

I have the same video card and ram as you want with an A7V-333 (the next best if not the best motherboard) and have had no problems. If you are having a builder put it together for you, then get XP also. You'll be able to use the free XP PTLE of 5.3.1 and get 8 more tracks too. It should be alittle cheaper if you get XP with the upgrade. I get 32+9 with my set up.
