Session Pitch changes randomly when connecting Avid Keystudio MIDI keyboard.

Hey guys,

Im using an Avid Key studio Midi Keyboard protools 10, recently it has been acting up as my entire session changes its pitch suddenly until i restart the session. Its because of the midi keyboard. Does any one have a solution to this?

What is your audio interface and platform? Usually, a pitch change on a session is caused by a clocking error.

It's only the pitch or the playback speed changes too?

At the moment I'm coming from a Focusrite 18i20 and Protools 10. Its only the pitch that changes. For example: I record a midi track. Sounds normal. Then i go ahead and add a new instrument track..all midi change the pitch and i have to reset the session.

Please help. Its frustrating lol.

Is the pitch changing like a whole octave or semitones? If the latter your pitchbend wheel might be stuck. Exercise the PB wheel back and forth a couple of times and see if that clears it up. If it doesn't the wheel itself may have issues.

Iv tried that too…the PB wheel seems to be fine..Its the entire session all the midi tracks transpose to a whole new octave.

NB: It only happens when the midi keyboard is connected.

Then look and see if somehow your MIDI keyboard is transposed up or down an octave. Most small keyboards will have an octave up/down control somewheres.
