Default Midi keyboard not recognized

Hey guys, so heres the skinny. The g5 mac at the studio died. Something with the OS (i havent a clue about the first thing with macs), the thing wouldent boot and so i brought my rig in from home and plugged in the 002 that was previously on the G5. All is well, except that the M-Audio Oxygen 49 keyboard is not showing up under protools what so ever. Iv tried plugging it in directly via Midi cable into the 002, that also isnt working. When i create a midi track, the only input option is "all" in which case there is no response to any hit on the keyboard. The really weird part, is that when i choose outputs, the midi input on the 002 is shown, as well as the Oxygen 49 keyboard. But NOTHING under the input tab. Anyone got any ideas? were desperate to track the rest of this score. They keyboard works fine, as it was all plug and play on the mac.

Runnign protools 8.0.4 (is the 002r compatible with this version?)

iv disabled power saving features on the usb ports as well...

Iv done all the windows 7 optimizations, and i haven't had a single problem with my ghetto midi keyboard at home.

Nick

UPDATE: iv gotten the 002r to register midi (when i hti a key on the keyboard, the midi in light blinks) but there is still no input option in protools for any sort of midi. And when i do select the one and only "all" input, nothign is registered. Still confused :/

Did you load the Windows 7 drivers for the Oxygen? You would need those when connecting via USB.

As for why the 002 is not showing up, make sure you have the MMERefresh service running.

Also, when using the Oxygen via USB, make sure you plug it in BEFORE opening Pro Tools.

Yeah i gave up on usb. Because the midi works, the 002 reads it... As in the midi in light flashes once when i hit a note and again when i release it. Im thinking it might be something to do with switching interfaces. So im reinstalling the 8.0.4 update right now. And see if that helps with the midi input mapping

I would use it via USB if you can.

How old is the oxygen? IIRC, the older versions had problems with the USB controllers in that they would "blow up" and stop working. I had an Oxygen 25 that was like that. The MIDI outs worked great, but the USB was completely shot/worthless.

And the G5 broke, so you can't test it to make sure it still works, right?

Ahhh, wait; so you plugged it in BEFORE loading the drivers? That might have been what caused it all.

Is anything listed in the device manager? You might want to try to delete anything that is there, unplug the device, restart, install the drivers, restart, then plug the device back in.

I ended up fixing the G5. (not that its worth anything). The harddrive died in it, so upon attempting reinstallation of OSX, it would just fail. threw in a new HDD and it worked. The keyboard does in fact work, the only thing now is that we gotta use xpand, cause its a mac 10.5.8 system, and sample tank doesnt like that

Nothing was listed in the device manager, BUT when you went to devices and printers it was listed there. really unusual i found. I geuss ill try that tomorrow lol

Thanks for the help.

Nick
