Default Midi Input not Recognized

I busted out my old school Yamaha DD-5 Digital Drums beat machine. It's fully functional in good condition. It has one simple midi output. I connected it to the midi in on the back of my digi 003. I immediately noticed that when I hit a pad on my drum machine that the "midi - in" light on the front of my digi lit up, giving me the confidence that it is receiving a signal. However when I start up protools 8 I see it nowhere in my midi input devices dialog. I know nothing about setting up midi in pro tools and a brief internet search left me quite lost on how to get my dd-5 to be used as an external midi device for pro tools. Can anybody here point me in the right direction??? Thanks in advance...

-Kevin

Go to MacHD>Users>your account>Library>Preferences>By Host and trash 'com.apple.midi.a bunch of numbers and letters.plist'.

Go to MacHD>Users>your account>Library>Preferences and trash 'com.apple.audio.audiomidisetup.plist'.

Empty the trash and restart, then see if everything is working.

Computer>Local Disk(C:)>Program Files(x86)>Digidesign>Drivers and double-click MMERefresh. Reboot.

My Setup is:

Windows XP SP2
Digi 003 rack
Pro Tools 8 LE

No matter what I do, I cannot get my dd-5 to show up in midi input devices.
