Default The Stone Knife FAQ:

1. LE compatibility with XP is a reality.

2. Get a second Hard Drive for audio. Enable DMA.

3. Use IRQ 9.

4. A Beta 58, Røde NTK, AKG 414, Soundelux U99, or Telefunken U-47.

5. Apparently with Nero, you need to open the bounced wave files from ptle into a different editor then resave them before they'll be recognized by that burning software.

6. The A7M266 with a separate Promise ATA100 TX2 controller card works fine, as does the Intel P-III 815.

7. Partition Magic.

8. Until we get digipronet, all we’ve got is ftp.

9. Genelec 1029A Monitors with the 1091A Sub-Woofer, Mackie HR 824’s, Hafler TRM8's or one mono Auratone.

10. You can, but you’ll need a HUBI midi interface and separate sound card.

11. Try a.)E-Bay, b.)Musicians Friend, c.)Sam Ash, or d.)Guitar Center.

12. Listen to it/them before you buy if you can.

13. Try a search on the subject. You'll get lots of hits!

14. For D-Verb authorization problems,
A.)Use add/remove programs to remove D-Verb, then re-install it out of the Demo's root folder from the LE CD.
B.)Authorize through Windows explorer to Program Files> Digidesign> DAE> De-Authorizers. Double-click on the dverb deauthorizer, when prompted, insert the (original or backup) 1.44 Authorization Floppy, click OK, then a window will/should come up up asking what drive do you want to authorize. Choose the same drive D-Verb is installed on. Hit OK.
C.) Remember if you ever reformat the D-Verb drive or change host drives that you must DE-authorize D-Verb to get the key back onto the floppy.

15. Probably Sony 7506's.

Exactly! And don't forget to include that Soundelux U99 that's just taking up closet space!
Just refer new posters to the above post citing the appropriate number, 'n save time.

Stoneknife,

I like the way you think and work, but the coolest thing is that this could actually be the most referred to post ever on a digi forum. the one thing keeping it from this acclaimed status is...well i would put 8mm's response from the other topic in addition to your answers. He actually made sense of all of the answers, and without knowing what the questions are people are just gonna be playing jepordy. Seriously this was very funny at first read on the first post.
