audio clips disappear

Hi all,
this is what happens when i try to record audio with PT 12.5.2 on my WIN 10 laptop:
almost 99% of the times when I stop recording- the audio clip vanishes completely and also the cliplist stays empty. When I start recording it's all there until I hit the spacebar, hit the 0-button or press stop in the transport bar. It's not a matter of h o w I stop recording. This is rediculous, as it renders PT completely useless for recording. I tried different interfaces with no avail. Always comes out the same. Recording with other DAW's works just fine on the same system (Sound Forge, Reaper, etc.)
Any ideas what's going on?

OK folks,
it was really nerv-wrecking, but I finally tracked it down: it was my anti-virus software!!!! Wish I had thought of it before... It's a l w a y s good advice to disable any anti-virus software whwn running PT.

My NORMAN (not Norton!!) runs quietly in the background, and has since PT 5, with zero issues.
