Aux CPU power usage?
I am running a ProTools session for live reinforcement (I wont get into the details concerning why).
QUESTION: Would routing several tracks (5 or so) to a couple AUXs be significantly worse, in terms of performance, than those tracks bounced/printed to 2 stereo tracks? Do AUXs take up a lot of CPU power? Do they rely a lot on RAM? SESSION DETAILS: I will be running an average of 8 audio tracks in each session, along with Reason (re-wire), and 8 outputs of audio. SYSTEM: PowerMac 1.25 G4 dual 512 RAM and 002 Rack. 2 internal harddrives, one for programs and one for session data. |

Re: Aux CPU power usage?
Making sends to aux tracks does eat up a little cpu, but miniscule in comparison to the processing demanded by reason. Try it at the rehearsal to be sure, create two separate sessions wired differently. check out your CPU monitor to see which is working more efficiently. My guess is it'll be very close.
(btw the processor you have should have no problem handling this job) B. |
