Default All my files are gone??

Hey everyone

I recorded 12 vocal tracks yesterday, and when I opened them this morning, they are all gone. The regions are there, but protools can't find the wav files and tries relinking without success.

This should in no way be possible? I haven't touched the computer nor deleted anything since yesterday.

What can have caused this?

Go into Disk Allocation and you should see what drive they went to. Also make sure record to "Round Robin" is not checked. I HATE THAT BUTTON! Periodically that thing comes on without reason and causes havoc. and Andy has a good idea also!

Look in your session file backups folder, see if they're there.....

i agree with rqstudio, your disc allocation should tell you where they went.
Always backup your work when you are done, I even do it during my sessions while taking breaks.

Thanks everybody...

My files should be in: D:/Recordings/Session1/Audio Files/

But they are missing.... There are about 20 other wav files from the same session, but almost all the vocal tracks are gone.

I had no external media connected unfortunatly. I'm a computer programmer, so I now a bit about computers, and this one seems very strange to me....

What makes you think they should be in D:/ ? Is it because that is where you created the project or did you go to Disk Allocation like I suggested? If not, I strongly believe you should do like I said in my earlier post. That 'Round Robin" button will unknowingly distribute your files to any other media your system has connected.

I know they are there... The Disc Allocation says it, and the session is placed there. The Round Rubin button was not enabled.

yes, session backups only contain session files and they also open with missing links to the audio files
