I know it happens most frequently when rapidly pressing play-stop-play. However..... I've had it happen when pressing play for the first time after opening a session.

I did that in a previous post about 2 years ago. I've tried to find it and can't. Maybe I can try again today........

Of course....Aim a camera at it and it'll never happen.

Maybe Avid can put that in the next release notes for a bug fix.

It's hard to press it correctly now that I have to always lean forward to keep my other hand on the volume control to protect my speakers and hearing.

Moderator Manny's suggestion (although only a Workaround):

http://duc.avid.com/showpost.php?p=2323967&postcount=3

About the audio blast, do you guys use the fade in option that is located just under the post roll in the transport section? Adding even 0:00:200 samples will give you a near imperceptible fade-in that will by essence nullify the audio blast.

But it doesn't help the blasts after the fade-in/pre-roll. I'm still using the hard limiter until this is specifically addressed by Avid.

True. I had a blast today that lasted about 5 seconds and sounded like a masonry drill, drilling through a **** load of bricks!

Had this happen frequently on a session today on 12.4 HD. Occasionally it beach balls my Mac Pro while playing the noise. I fortunately have a hardware dim and mute switch at my desk. This needs to be a priority 1 bug because of the potential for equipment and hearing damage.
