Just curious; I can't for the life of me imagine a situation where you'd need 30 ft cabling for displays and controls?
Why can't you have the mac in the same room?
Loads of studios have a separate machine room in order to minimise acoustic noise in the control room.

To the OP- Gefen are worth the expense.

I have CAT 5 extenders running 20 metres from my control room to the Mac Pro in the main house. Firewire for 2 Metric Halo ULN-2, USB, and DVI to the monitor. All works flawlessly though I did have to ditch the cheaper USB system. Cannot remember the brands right now and I'm away from the studio for a while, but it is definitely worth it for a totally silent control room. About to change to an HDMI monitor for increased screen space, have already tested it down a 20 m CAT5, and that work fine too.

When you are able, please let us know the brands used.
Thanks!

VIDEO - Aten VE600A DVI Extender

FIREWIRE - Unibrain CAT5 Repeater-400™

USB - powered at the receive end -

Definitely do not use one of these small in-line un-powered units, they work very poorly.
