PT 12.8 Slow to Launch

Same here....though once it did get past the sluggish start on our machines I got a message about the workspace needing to be updated, to which I told it to do so.

Some of the now load slower than others but most seem to launch in less than a minute once the workspace thing gets sorted out.

I ditched the Workspace database and everything went back to normal. My Workspace database was 3.7GB.

Sucks because you need to remake catalogs etc.

However, its a better option than waiting while your client stares at you.

Good news, 12.8.3 fixes the slow launch. With a Workspace database of 1.06Gb PT is back to launching in a minute or less. It seems there is a Santa Claus and he/she works at Avid.

From your profile it seems like your on a Mac; I'd suggest getting the free PT Prefs helper by Pete Gates who's a poster here. It'll do all kinds of things like deleting prefs, databases, etc.
