Default Re: who has a good reason why m-audio midi control

Typing the name and selecting the port(s) has been a capability since the feature was introduced to Windows.

For instance, when I plug my MK-361c in, the ports show up as "MK-361c USB MIDI" in/out. If I go into the MIDI Studio Setup, I can create a new instrument, select the "MK-361c USB MIDI" for each of the port selections, and type "361c" into the box.

After that, I can select 361c->channel 1 on a MIDI input dropdown instead of having to select Predefined->"MK-361c USB MIDI"->channel 1.

There is no difference in functionality by selecting a controller from the list. (it actually takes longer, since there are two lists).
There is also really no difference in functionality if you don't set it up in MIDI Studio Setup at all (just an extra menu level ).

"I'm just asking what benefit it would be to have it in the list? The only thing that would be different about having it in the dropdown list as opposed to just typing the name yourself would be... well... not having to type.

Maybe I'm just not that lazy..."

you missed the point completely spk... I am perfectly capable of typing it in (it took 5 seconds).. what I was asking about was why, since avid owns m-audio, do m-audio keyboard controllers not show up in the list... simple...

why do digi still not support M-Audio MIDI interfaces? that aside no company is ever going to be able to list every single keyboard and controller there are just to many.

" no company is ever going to be able to list every single keyboard and controller there are just to many."

Digi does a pretty good job of listing every other controller on the market.... sans m-audio.... why??????
