Apollo 16
I’m about to buy a newer setup. I’ve been considering a 2015 MacBook Pro with a i7 2.8ghz 16gigs of Ram. Using a Universal Audio Apollo 16 MkII thunderbolt interface along with protools (possibly ultimate). I’ll be recording small and mid size bands so I’m intending on recording on all 16 tracks simultaneously. I see the recommendation for protools is 32gb of Ram but also says 16gb is ok. Do you think I’ll have any issues with lag or other issues using the above mentioned MacBook Pro or should I upgrade to a 32gb MacPro desktop? Also interested in other recommendations, thanks.

Re: Apollo 16
I run 16gb of Ram and I have all my sessions on disk cache.
Mostly audio tracks - anywhere from 15-30 tracks Some VI’s mostly piano - kontact xpand but I bounce those to audio also pretty quick - kontact eats those cpu cycles pretty quickly I’ve have had no issues running 16gb ever
