MXF Files and ProTools AVXL Mac
Does the ProTools AVXL support the MXF file format or do you have to upgrade to v.10 video option?
If you have to upgrade, is there an upgrade path and is Mojo a possibility instead of the DNX Adrenaline I/O. We do not need any higher resolution than DV, so the DNX v.10 option seems like overkill for our purposes.

Re: MXF Files and ProTools AVXL Mac
Hi Rick,
Q: Does the ProTools AVXL support the MXF file format A: No MXF is a container Format. What´s inside can be IMX or something different. Also Audio is possible. You have to ugrade to V 10. But remember V 10 is only working on PC not MAC. You also have to be on PT 6.9. Earlier version do not support MXF. Mojo on a MAC won´t help you there. I hope everything i wrote to is right. These are confusing days. PT 6.6/PT 6.7/ PT 6.9/ Avid PT LE 6.6 / PT M-Powered etc. My 2 cents Jochen |

(Snip) Avid Mojo US List Price: $1,695 The Avid Mojo video interface makes entering the market for professional video post more affordable than ever. Avid Mojo enables Pro Tools|HD editors to open OMF, AAF, or MXF files and sequences created with Avid Xpress Pro or Avid Media Composer Adrenaline systems, play back video via an external monitor, tab from cut to cut in the Pro Tools video track, and export finished audio for re-integration into an original Avid sequence. Avid Mojo works with the most popular and flexible Avid video resolutions, including uncompressed MXF or JFIF, DV25 and DV50, 15:1 single-frame JFIF, and several 24P/25P progressive-scan resolutions. Avid Media Station|PT conform/render/layback software and DigiTranslator 2.0 for AAF/OMF/MXF interchange are also compatible with Avid Mojo. (SNIP) While I've not had the discussion personally, it appears from the text above that MXF is on the list for Mojo. I'd talk directly with your vendor to get the specifics, or call Digi direct. Re: MXF Files and ProTools AVXL Mac
To be clear, MXF is, in fact supported with Mojo on Mac or PC Pro Tools system as long as it is one of the Mojo supported video resolutions (1:1, DV25, 14:1, 15:1s, 28:1, 35:1). The V10 also supports MXF but is not required for MXF support in Pro Tools 6.9. In fact, when using Pro Tools 6.9, on a Pro Tools HD system with Mojo, the video files that are created when digitizing video to the Pro Tools video track are MXF, as opposed to OMF video files. In Xpress Pro, and I believe Media Station Pro Tools, you have the option to use either OMF or MXF as your file format. Jon Connolly Digidesign Product Specialist |

Re: MXF Files and ProTools AVXL Mac
thanks Jon for clear things.
So correct me if i´m wrong: If i use IMX video format with MXF, Mojo cannot handle it and PT HD 6.9 with V 10 neither? regards Jochen |

VirtualVTR chases your Pro Tools perfectly, and the Flip4Mac driver allows QuickTime to read MXF IMX files. We have not yet tested Flip4Mac/MXF yet so I can't say for sure if its a real time playback, but I expect this to be the case, and VirtualVTR Pro will be able to play back MXF/IMX files natively. http://www.virtualvtr.com http://www.flip4mac.com |

Re: MXF Files and ProTools AVXL Mac
I have some Flip4Mac stuff. It is very cpu intensive, slow. Let us know how you find its realtime performace to be.
