Default S6 performance - Mac Pro 5,1 vs Mac Pro 7,1

Quick question here : could I expect a major boost in S6 overall performance with a Mac Pro 7,1 (let's say 16 core/96GB RAM MacOS 10.15.7 PT 2020.11 HDX3 for the example), against a Mac Pro 5,1 (2010 12-core 32GB RAM Mac OS 10.12.6 PT 2019.6 HDX3)? I noticed Eucon (WSControl) seems to eat up a lot of memory, so I figure the 32GB to 96GB would make a difference, but can host CPU also influence responsiveness and layout build speeds on the S6, or even just the version update on the MTM (19.6 to 20.11)?

I'l defer to Eddie on some of this -> but in general, Avid has improved EUCON performance in WSControl through optimizations over the last several versions released. S6 19.12 did have some very significant optimizations for the Master Module when Attentioning for example. So although I would still personally recommend purchasing as much RAM as you can afford for your audio workstation, most of the improvements with drawing data, caching and banking performance are due to optimizations that were worked on by the EUCON team. Hope this helps.

Thanks Jeff, this helps. Regarding RAM, WSControlapp would bring memory usage from ~50% to ~85-90% in our heavy sessions, with our actual 32GB RAM, so I guess 96GB could buy us enough headroom for the time being. We might follow your recommendation and aim a little higher RAM though (128GB or 192GB), but definitely updating to latest supported macOS and PT/Eucon version seems like our path to overall performance improvement, even if this means sacrificing 32 bits apps/plugins and previous video engine. Thanks!
