Default is it possible to connect a quantum 4848 to Control24?

Hello Folks: i dont´t know if this question is absurd, but is possible to enable Control24 mic preamps going from db25 control 24 outputs to quantum 4848 db25 ins, and be able to work with PT 2020?

Thanks for your comments.

This shouldn't be a problem at all. A standard analog DB25 snake will go between the two just fine.

Top Jimmy. I don´t know the limitations of the software DAW you can use. I wonder if I can use Pro Tools 2020 or any other DAW or just the one included from Presonus? Any idea?

Thanks.

The Quantum should work fine with Pro Tools. Be aware that with any 3rd party interface, you are limited to 32 IO(so the last 16 IO will not appear).

Of course, this assumes you have a compatible computer with a thunderbolt port and a compatible version of Pro Tools(nothing newer than PT10 is going to work with the old Control24, unless you get the Nyrinck software that makes it work as a HUI device).

As said, DB25 cables are all you need to connect the 16 preamps, but you may wish to rethink this a bit as those preamp are not so great. Of course, they're okay for making "okay" recordings, but you would likely make better recordings if you get at least a couple of "great" preamps for important stuff(vocals being top of the list).

As for the output side of things, the monitor section of the Control24 has a worse reputation than the preamps, so you might consider bypassing that and using a monitor/source switcher. The Audient NERO is a great option

Thanks Dave for your detailed and valuable information.

I understand what you say about the Mic preamps of the Control 24, but Im trying to rescue some of my current equipment PT HD10 and 192 i/o, due to the hard situation we are living. I´m forced do an upgrade of my computer because the current one is and old one and is failing.

My idea is to install a MacMini with Thunderbolt ports, using PT 2020 and Control 24 with Nyrinck software using Quantum 4848. That being the case, could I expect Control 24 to work the same way as it does with my current equipment?

Or do you think it would be a better idea to get rid of the Control 24 and install a Quantum 2632 plus a Quantum DigiMax DP88, for 16 analog inputs in total? I think this because the cost of the Q4848 is equivalent to the cost of these last 2 interfaces.

Thank you very much for your help.

Hi,

Have you got the Nyrinck app? if not you can demo it. it does most of what the direct control does but there are a few differences.
