Can\'t remove USB disk/key when Pro Tools is running
So I searched here and on the Digi support site and can't seem to find an answer for this one.
When I have my USB key (not an I-lok, just a USB key/disk) inserted, PT writes it's Digidesign Database folder to the disk, then seems to keep a handle open to it which prevents me from ejecting the USB key/disk. I routinely need to take this key in and out as I will sometimes copy a file to the USB key, take it to my other system and email it to someone to listen to, or have to download a new file to add to a session. But everytime I do this I have to shutdown Pro Tools first, then eject it, then restart everything. It's very time consuming and frustrating. Is there a way to tell Pro Tools LE to exclude this disk or to release it so I don't have to shutdown Pro Tools everytime? I'm currently running 7.3.1cs3. thanks, Mike

Re: Can\'t remove USB disk/key when Pro Tools is running
Window menu > Workspace browser
Select volume and unmount from pulldown menu in the upper left corner.

Re: Can\'t remove USB disk/key when Pro Tools is running
I think PT has been doing that since 7.0... at least in 6.9 it resopnded to plug and play device removal. The added failsafe they have now is good though.

Re: Can\'t remove USB disk/key when Pro Tools is running
I could never get it to eject properly using the standard Windows plug-n-pray device removal. And if you just yank it, well, you risk corrupting your disk/key AND Pro Tools will spit out a bunch of error messages and I even had it crash on me once.
this did the trick though. Thanks guys. Mike
