Default Blue Screen recording MIDI on External Clock

I have an old Alesis MMT8 sequencer that I used in the 80's to record midi. I'm trying to dump that data over to protools 8.0.1.cs1 (XP-sp3) through a Projectmix IO external midi port. Using external clock, the recording starts just fine but arbitrarily at about 1:30 or so in, the computer blue screens. This is repeatable at different points in the sequence. I'm going to try using PT as the clock source (have to buy one more midi cable today to accomplish this) but thought I would check to see if anyone else has experienced this. I'm pretty sure it is clock source related because I was successful freewheeling midi from the MMT8 in to PT.

Default Re: Blue Screen recording MIDI on External Clock

Update: When PT is master clock, it works fine. I slaved the old sequencer to PT and all tracks recorded as expected. Tried again just for fun making the MMT8 master clock, and booommm...blue screen of death again.

So kids, make PT master clock to avoid this crash.

Update: Blue Screen started again with PT in Master Clock mode. I think I must have something else going on. Midi should not be this difficult.
