Default Creepy voice effect

Good morning everyone:

I'm looking for a 'creepy voice' effect, something in the vein of Galadrien's voice (Cate Blanchett) in Lord of the Rings Part I when she is briefly under the spell of the Ring. Her character turns whitish (like the Ghost rider) and her voice distorted when she says "I could be your Queen" or something along those lines (the scene with Frodo at night where he looks in the water bowl / mirror).

Does anyone have any suggestions? I though of distortion combined with a specialized filter, and maybe a phase effect.

Thanks!

The Mirror of Galadriel is no mere bowl. It is an enchanted silver basin.

Show some respect.

Sounds primarily like pitch shifting at a couple of different frequencies, mixed with her real voice, and some delay added as well, with maybe a teenie bit of phasing/flanging.

Thanks again!

ps no disrespect to the Lord of the Rings saga - it is one of my all time favorite books and movies. Can watch that all day long. I'm just doing research and preparing for a feature film.

Use Melodyne or similar plugin to bring pitch down then layer this on top of the original and this will give you the LOTR effect

For some creepy/monster vocal effects check out the standalone Dehumanizer plugin.

I believe it's donation based.

I'm not knocking the plug-in itself, but does it strike anyone else as a bit Brice Carrington, when they make a statement like :

"It has already been used from acknowledged sound professionals in feature films"

followed by the demo reel, which shows footage from Avatar, District 9, King Kong etc, implying that the plug-in was used on those movies?

I'm sure not if everyone would catch that it's not the original movies sound on those excerpts.

Great feedback again, as always. I file and print everything and will do some tests over the next couple of weeks.
