Error messages
I have a few error messages. basically this happens over and over again with no relief...
"The audio device buffer underflowed. If this occurs frequently, try decreasing the "H/W Buffer Size" in the Playback Engine panel or remove other devices from the audio firewire bus. (-6085)" i have spent hours on this one... nothing works. I have a macbook osx 10.4.10 and I have pro tools LE with a mbox 2 pro. I have recorded numerous things and i was actually listening to a ton of my recordings last night through PT LE. I have tried changing the h/w buffer size to 256 and the DAE playback buffer to level 4. struggling with this one. It really is frustrating to have it working and then encounter error after error. Can't play it back it all. also there are occasional 9073 errors. Any ideas from all of the experts out there? eblack |

Re: Error messages
I am having the same problem:
Macbook Pro 2.2ghz 4GB RAM OS 10.4.9 - and - Mac Mini Intel Core Duo 1.8ghz 2GB RAM OS 10.4.9 Pro Tools 7.3.1cs4 Mbox 2 Pro I am traveling to NYC tomorrow to overdub singers on union session fees... I can't deal with this... Like poster above, I have sessions that I was happily recording and editing this morning, now nothing will play. I've restarted, repaired permissions, swapped out FW cables (all new). put the sessions on internal drive, onto a separate FW800 bus... no go. This happens for huge sessions and smaller ones with 3 stereo tracks. Help!! |

Re: Error messages
Do you both have FW800 drives in your setup? Combining FW400 and 800 in the same session is known to cause the buffer underruns. Forget the internal drive as means of test because thats even more of a pain. A FW400 drive is the best way forward.
Cheers

Re: Error messages
God, I hope that's not the case. I was pretty darned excited about performance boosts when I invested hundreds$$ in FW800 drives. So it's definitely better to have 2 drives (samples, scratch) and mbox 2 pro all daisy-chained on one FW400 bus?

Re: Error messages
Dougfather -
My FW800 has FW400 inputs, so I switched to an all FW400 setup -- worked great. So THANK YOU for saving a pretty enormous session (fingers crossed). I don't even want to think about what the alternatives would've been. That said, it's pretty tragic that I'm losing FW800 performance. I've been noticing a significant difference in Save times... seems to be about 5-6 seconds on FW400, 2 seconds on FW800. Some of you might think that's not a big deal, but I habitually save A LOT, it's like a tick after any edit or recorded take. Call it PTD for a man who's been burned by too many crashes. So I do hope to see FW400-800 interoperability in Pro Tools again, and soon. |

Re: Error messages
It's also documented in the compatibility information the Mbox 2 Pro does not play well with FW800 drives.
