Initial LE 8 install on new iMac and Crossgrade to 10?

Hi all, I’m new to the board and new to DAW recording. I’ve searched around and think my question is unique. Apologies in advance if it isn’t. I appreciate any help you can share.

I have a 3rd-Gen Mbox with Pro Tools LE 8.0 that has never been installed and is just out of the box. In reading the boards, I know my new iMac won’t run it so I need to crossgrade from LE to 10.

Is there any benefit to spending the extra money and buying PT 10 and installing fresh as opposed to installing 8, uninstalling and then installing the crossgrade? I’m wondering if there’s less room for error/headache given some of the issues folks have had getting 8 to 9 back up and running after the crossgrade. Nothing too difficult to remedy but I’m curious if there are benefits to installing 10 initially on my new machine – especially since I will have never run 8.

Any thoughts or words of wisdom would be really appreciated.

No need to install PT8 - the crossgrade is a full installer.

Thanks man, appreciate it. Quick q - so in using the crossgrade installer there will be some prompt to register and authenticate my pt8 and mbox info before the pt10 installation? Probably a dumb one but just making sure there won't be any issues since I haven't registered it yet. Thanks again, really helpful!

Any prompt regarding the Mbox or PT8 will be when you purchase it, not when you install it.
