Default Pro Tools Best "Economic Speakers" Buy

Avid members,

1. I'm about to purchase a pair of monitors for my workstation at home. I use the fast track audio interface with pro tools 11 on a toshiba laptop 12gb of ram i7 processor and a 1tb hard drive (1tb wd passport external). What do you guys think of this buy? http://www.amazon.com/M-Audio-Studio...audio+monitors or how about SONY? http://www.amazon.com/Sony-SS-B1000-...=sony+speakers

Reason for purchase is obviously i don't have any speakers but the sound coming out of my extended monitor (Samsung TV) and iphone headphones i connect to the fast track.

I remember going to my boy's studio, he'd use one button (I'm pretty sure it was the direct monitor button) to simulate from when the artist was to record and make the sound come out of the headphones while using the same button to mix the sound and make it come out of the speakers. I'm i making the right choice? will i need any other cables but these: http://static.howstuffworks.com/gif/cables-to-use-2.jpg ? thanks

2. Also Albee suggested M-Disc media External drive. I'd like to check it out but all I find is this https://www.google.com/search?q=m-di...ernal&tbm=shop, any updates on those? thanks

They sound really great for the price and have great lows for a 5" speaker

i can tell that those seperate from the competition. They're the only ones I see with a total power of 82W while the Mackies and others have 50W. How do I swap the output signal from the speakers to my headphones though? Is it the direct monitor button on my fast track or no? I plan on using the red & white cables to get the sound to those speakers btw. just want to get my toes in the water before dipping in you know.

Its not the total Watt to look at its the Frequency Range and frquency curves to look at. The Watt power is not important here at all.

Agreed -

And while I don't have a fast track - I'm sure the manual has a pretty easy to understand diagram that shows you how to connect them

Best of luck -

Got it. But the mackies have more range. Does that mean they are better? http://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/MR5mk3/specs

Actually if you look at the specs for the JBL's they have a better range 47 Hz up to 24K hertz
