press record.... delay... delay...now it records

Having this issue for awhile. I did a search and all the solutions for others did not work for me. I have a Power Mac G$ dual 1.25 w/ 1.5G ram on OS X.4.8 and PT LE 7.3

playback engine = 128
1 processor
CPU usage = 99%
Level 2 DAE size(default)

...and its jst takes days 2 actually start recording. I've been dealing with it but now its gettin 2 me. Even in sessions. Delay/latency, whatever u wanna call it. Its a problem.

o yeah... and the its on 10 minute limit, so thats not it.

I dont know what this could be.

Is it possible that your Countoff defaulted to 2 bars after trashing preferences?

A search for the word countoff in the PT Reference Guide brings up the following...

Page 103 in the v7.3 manual
MIDI Controls

and Click Options on page 272

The only other thing I can think of is if your record drive is really large, in which case you may want to partition it to smaller sizes.
