Lead vocal question
I apologize for this rookie question but I couldn't find it in the online guide and I did a search and couldn't find anything. Should lead vocals be recorded on a mono or stereo track? If stereo, how can I get the track to play both sides of the stereo track with one mic. When I was checking levels & it only showed movement on the left side.

Re: Lead vocal question
When you are only using one mic, you would record a mono track. Personally, I double all my vocals - record two seperate takes and blend them together, both on seperate mono tracks.

Re: Lead vocal question
Stereo is two sources, left and right. You cannot record sa stero track with a single mic and have any stereo imaging. the only thing you can do is split the mic to both inputs, but the result would be the same as a mono track, since both the left and right are identical.
Unless you purposely want a doubling effect, a single mono track of vocal is all that is necessary. Hope this is helpful. |

Re: Lead vocal question
try getting all of your instruments recorded and mixed and then bounce it to disk...
take that bounced stereo mix and import it into a new session giving you all kinds of room for vocals. you can quadruple all of you parts (leads and harmonies...) and it's quite fun... just a thought |
