Maybe I'm missing something but I didn't see thunderbolt on the specifications page. Double check it to make sure.

Don't know if the thunderbolt to FireWire connector from apple will work with a PC. I bet apple has some tech in there to check for compatible hardware.

I would run windows 7 64 bit as well until windows 8 is fully supported by Avid.

Another thing to consider is, "Windows 8" is not yet a qualified OS for Pro Tools.

I have bought refurbished discontinued Dell Latitude i5/4GBRAM/250GB 5400rpm 250GB HDD, firewire, no dedicated graphics - 500$. I have installed Windows 8 pro 64. No optimizations, everything on. On Audree PT 10 shows about 30% CPU load, 10-15% HDD load using 64 samples buffer, less if I use Asio4All with built in audio on bigger buffer. It can also handle my 30-50 track sessions with a ton of plugins.
I am in heaven but I will exchange RAM to 16GB and disk to 750GB 7200 wat will cost me about 200$.

I am having success with an HP Probook 4530s. i5 Quad core 2.5, 8 gigs ram, no dedicated grafix (AMD), 750 gig 7200 drive with PT 9.0.3 using an external usb drive. With a siig firewire express card it works with an mbox2pro and a digi002R butr I am using it with a Native Instruments Komplete Audio6 USB and with the pc optimized I can run it at 32 samples. I am using it as my live rig playing thru it doing acoustic solo shows. Using Waves V series comp's and eq's, IR verb, H Delay and Metaflanger because they have no latency and MCDSP analog channel I have a great sounding live rig I can record myself with and it will run Traktor simultaneously so I can control break tunes

I guess your HP comes with Sandy Bridge i5m which is 2 cores 4 threads. Great anyway! Have you disabled Turbo as Avid suggests? i5m minus Turbo equals (let me count) ...i3m :)
Windows 7 or 8?
