MTC-To-SMPTE/SMPTE-To-MTC Interface - What do YOU use?
I have been searching for some time for a stable, easy-to-get-along-with, interface to use with my Digi002 Rack system to accomplish the conversions mentioned in the title. I have four MOTU boxes in my rack of varying types and vintages and I have so far been unsuccessful in getting any of them to perform adequately, so I am giving up and looking for something else. Does anyone else do ADR with a Protools LE system? If so, what do YOU use for syncing to and from SMPTE?
Specifics: I need to be able to do the following two things: 1. Take SMPTE from a beta-sp deck and (a) convert it to MIDI time code so that ProTools will slave to it, and (b) regenerate it as SMPTE code for output to an ISDN device for picture sync with a second studio. 2. When using quicktime for the picture source, I need to be able to take MIDI time code from the 002Rack and convert it to SMPTE time code for, again, syncing to picture at a remote studio. Re: MTC-To-SMPTE/SMPTE-To-MTC Interface - What do YOU use?
Hi,
I once used a JLCooper PPS2 as a SMPTE-MTC converter with my LE System (6.9 that time). Very fast sync. As I do not have the "plus" option, I cannot say anything about the other way round (MTC-SMPTE). Greetings Matthias

Re: MTC-To-SMPTE/SMPTE-To-MTC Interface - What do YOU use?
I use a UK made XRI systems 300 from the 1980's it does the job and has a huge RED led display for the timecode.
I had one in the 80's and bought this one from e-bay for $70.

I use these with LE all the time. Disclaimer: This is not my eBay auction.
