Default AudioGaming Footsteps Plugin Question

Hello All,

I've just subscribed to AudioGaming's LeSound Plugin bundle. One of the plugins is a pretty nifty footstep foley app which can be controlled by MIDI keyboard.

http://lesound.io/product/audiosteps-pro/

My question: I'm in post, and I know absolutely NOTHING about MIDI, as I never have to use it. Can anybody let me know what the absolute simplest MIDI device to use this plugin would be? For instance, would this one work:

http://www.amazon.com/Korg-nanoKEY2-...ZG0/ref=sr_1_1

Something even simpler is okay by me, as I don't play music. Thanks in advance for any insight.

Okay, new question.

I finally got around to installing this plugin. But I have absolutely NO IDEA how to install the included footstep dataset. It appears to be a ZIP file, but nothing seems to unarchive it. And simply pointing the plugin at the file doesn't work either.

Of course the manual makes ZERO mention of how to install the footsteps.

Has anybody installed this plugin and dataset? Any guidance would be GREATLY appreciated!

the Korg nanoKEY2 should work (minimum system requirement is 10.4 on mac and XP on windows)

regarding the zip-file ... sometimes it helps to use another utility for unzipping but maybe the file is corrupted and it´s time for contacting the ventor?

The very simplest would be an application; a virtual midi keyboard that you trigger with the mouse or your typing keyboard. There are lots of free software out there, just search for "virtual midi keyboard".

Turns out the files were WeTransfer links, but they weren't working on one computer for some reason. When I clicked them on my laptop it opened a web page with a download link. Seems to be working now. Thanks.

You can also simply trigger the samples by writing the corresponding midi note into the a Pro Tools midi track and making the output of that track be the plugin that you are using. To achieve proper placement of the samples just line the placement of the midi notes up to the footstep images that are on screen. That is truly the most accurate way to place them. If you play them in from a keyboard you will still have to edit them to achieve complete accuracy.

This long holiday weekend is my time to figure out the nuts and bolts of MIDI. Have never used it, but did pick up a $45 Korg keyboard for the purpose of "walking foley." I realize I'll have to edit it later, but hopefully it'll get me in the ballpark.

It will, and yes, you are going to have to edit it of course. Good luck with the learning curve. It's really not that big of a deal though.
