Video Out Firewire not available

Can anyone shed any light on this?

Basically I am trying to work with a quicktime file, but the option to play video over firewire is greyed out. I am using 7.3LE CS4, with a 002 or an mbox, and a canopus ADVC110 (the only qualified device!). 2 systems, a Mac Pro with 10.4.9 and a Macbook Pro with 10.4.10, same on both. Quicktime is 7.2 Canopus plays fine with iMovie and final cut. Not only is the menu greyed out, but you are supposed to be able to select "Video out Firewire" from a pop-up menu that you get by control-clicking in the video window. Whan I do this, the option isn't even in the pop-up menu!
The video footage is standard quicktime .mov file - I'm actually trying the video tutorial files as well as some other digi-derived footage, but its just not playing.

Any suggestions? Anyone else come across this?

If I am not mistaken, it has to be a quicktime that is in DV formant, or end in .dv, since the conopus is a digital Video = DV codec. the solution is to have the quick time re-output in .dv codec or what I did, buy quicktime PRO, which enables you to save as in .dv formant and then it should work fine. however you can try to find some programs online that will covert a qt to .dv, there is a site for macs with free d/l's, although I can't think of it.
